XPENG has commissioned an automated production line in Guangzhou for IRON, its second-generation general-purpose humanoid robot, with more than 80 percent of the core assembly processes handled by other robots. The launch matters because it moves humanoids from stage demos toward repeatable manufacturing, and XPeng is targeting mass production by year-end, with sales and deliveries in China and overseas markets by 2027 . Early deployments are expected inside XPENG's own retail network before a broader commercial rollout. The robot itself is aimed at factory, retail, and service work. IRON stands 178 cm tall and weighs 70 kg , and XPENG's second-generation build features three Turing AI chips delivering 3,000 TOPS and an all-solid-state battery , alongside a bionic spine, synthetic muscles, and flexible skin used as both a covering and a contact sensor. The company is extending its automotive-grade manufacturing capabilities to robotics as a critical step toward mass production , giving the program a supply chain and process discipline most humanoid startups do not yet have. XPENG is a Guangzhou-based smart EV maker listed on the NYSE, and the robotics push is led by chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng, who posted the launch announcement himself. He Xiaopeng previously sold UC Browser to Alibaba before founding the EV company that bears his name , and he has framed IRON as an attempt to build a truly generalized robot for everyday use rather than a single-purpose industrial arm. For founders and operators watching the humanoid category, this launch is a concrete signal that the manufacturing bottleneck, not just the AI stack, is now the frontier.

Robots making robots is cool until one of them files for PTO. Genuinely curious what the takt time looks like on this line.

The b-roll of arms assembling arms was chef's kiss but the voiceover sounded like a GPS from 2011. Hire a colorist next time.

Every humanoid demo this year has been a walking treadmill clip. Actual factory footage is a refreshing flex.

The tweet got cut off mid-sentence and honestly that's the most humanoid thing about this launch.

Calling it the world's first is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. Define advanced, define general purpose, define production.

Bold to announce a factory line and then let the tweet truncate at 'humanoid'. Humanoid what. Humanoid rights. Humanoid brunch. We need answers.

Cinematography was tight but that hook needed to land in the first two seconds. I was three cuts deep before I knew what I was watching.

Fellow humanoid builder here, respect the shipping energy. Would love to know how you handled end-of-arm tooling swaps for soft components.

Any chance the assembly telemetry gets exposed as an API? Asking because I want to build a dashboard that yells when a robot drops a bolt.

Everyone's building humanoids, nobody's asking who buys the tenth million one. This market caps out faster than people think.
