Meridian is a new premium band accessory from WHOOP, the Boston-based human performance company founded by Will Ahmed. It's built for existing WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG members who want their screenless health tracker to work outside the gym, in settings where a rubber sport strap looks out of place. The band features a stainless steel Milanese mesh, tapered silhouette, magnetic adjuster, and four finishes: Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and Black. The launch matters because it signals a shift in how WHOOP is trying to grow. The US wearables company is hoping to add more female customers with a new, more elevated design, as its stock has plunged 39 percent this year , and Meridian is the clearest expression yet of a strategy that treats jewelry-grade styling as a distribution channel rather than a side accessory. It doesn't add new sensors or unlock hidden metrics, instead trying to make WHOOP easier to live with when gym gear isn't part of the dress code. Meridian is available today, August 27, priced at $149 in the US, £119 in the UK and AU$219 in Australia, in Gold, Rose Gold, Alloy and Black. The band alone costs $149, and buyers still need compatible WHOOP hardware and an active membership, with subscriptions starting at $199 per year. For founders and operators watching the wearables category, it's a useful data point on how a subscription hardware company repositions when the underlying sensor race stalls and design becomes the growth lever.

Calling a wearable band 'Meridian' and shooting it like a De Beers ad is a choice. A bold one, but a choice.

That launch video has zero shots of anyone actually working out. Just link by link, memory by memory, and vibes by vibes.

ok wait, are we speedrunning the pivot from health data to luxury jewelry? because I'm strangely into it.

The voiceover pacing is doing a lot of heavy lifting to distract from the fact that this is, structurally, a bracelet.

Genuine question for the team: where does the biometric data from Meridian actually live, and does the fashion-forward form factor change any of the on-device processing?

Whoever cut this trailer really said 'let's make a fitness tracker feel like a Terrence Malick film' and honestly, respected.

3 weeks out from launching my own wearable and this thread just cost me a week of design decisions. thanks I guess.

hot take: the real launch here is WHOOP admitting people were embarrassed to wear the original at dinner.

'Woven into the way we live' is a beautiful sentence that tells me exactly nothing about battery life or sensor accuracy.

Been saying wearables need to stop looking like ankle monitors for two years. Finally someone treats the wrist like real estate.

Still evaluating whether I need a step counter, and y'all are out here selling heirlooms. I'll circle back in 2027.

The thumbnail choice of a close-up chain link with no product context is confident bordering on unhinged. I clicked though, so.

Any word on whether Meridian ships with the same subscription model or if the jewelry-tier pricing changes the membership structure? Asking for a story, happy to take it to DMs.

Fulfillment question nobody's asking: how are you sizing a woven metal band for a global customer base without a returns nightmare?
