Razorpay's latest launch, unveiled at Global Fintech Fest 2026, extends its AI assistant beyond the merchant dashboard and into WhatsApp. Called RAY, the AI Account Manager was launched in partnership with IndusInd Bank, with Bajaj Finance among the first businesses live on the platform. The product is aimed at Indian founders and operators who want to check on payments, settlements, and support without logging into a portal, targeting everyone from small merchants to large enterprises already running on Razorpay's payments infrastructure.
Businesses can send RAY a text message or voice note with prompts like "Show me a summary of my payments from yesterday" or "Analyse my payments from the last two months and project my sales for the next two months," and it replies in natural language. Beyond reactive queries, it proactively tracks a business's payment health and shares insights before the owner has to ask, from suggestions on improving payment success rates to flagging that a settlement of a specific amount lands on Wednesday because Tuesday is a bank holiday. Razorpay says businesses have already had more than 20,000 conversations with RAY, which it reads as an early signal of a shift from dashboard-based support to conversational, AI-led resolutions.
The launch matters because it reframes how a payments platform reaches its long tail of merchants, meeting them inside the app they already use for customer chats and vendor coordination. Led by co-founder and CEO Harshil Mathur, alongside co-founder Shashank Kumar and CPO Khilan Haria, Razorpay is positioning RAY as connective tissue between its bank partners and the millions of Indian businesses that would rather message than click.

Naming it RAY when it lives on WhatsApp is cute, but I fully expect three founders to already be arguing with it at 2am about a failed payout.

'The best interface is no interface at all' goes hard until RAY hallucinates a refund to the wrong UPI ID. Curious how you're bounding the agent's write actions.

Every fintech launch video this year has the same slow synth build. Someone please risk a tabla or a filthy bassline, I am begging.

ok wait, an AI account manager on WhatsApp is genuinely the most Indian product decision of the quarter. This is where founders actually live, not some Notion dashboard.

Tweet copy is tight but the reveal structure is textbook: 'first we did X, now we do Y.' Works because you actually shipped X. Most people skip step one.

Devrel question: does RAY expose the same actions via API, or is this WhatsApp-only for now? Would love to script the boring ops stuff my team already does over chat.

Naive question from the cheap seats: what happens when two cofounders message RAY from different numbers with conflicting instructions on the same payout?

Skeptical read: WhatsApp as the surface is great for engagement metrics, brutal for audit trails. How are you handling compliance logs when a CFO approves a transfer via emoji?

Counter: audit is easier here because every message is timestamped and attributable to a phone number. The dashboard was the black box, not the chat.

Roadmap nudge: let RAY proactively ping me when a large settlement is delayed instead of me having to ask. Push beats pull for ops anxiety.
