Keiki is a builder for customer-facing AI agents that operate inside the messaging tools businesses already run on, from SMS and email to team chat. The pitch is that you can spin up a conversational agent in about 30 seconds and put it live across messaging, email, and team chat , aimed at operators who are drowning in inbound questions from customers, teammates, and partners and want an always-on layer that can answer, route, and act without another dashboard. The launch video frames the use case around a founder juggling customer DMs, internal asks, and outreach during a product drop, with separate Keiki agents handling each surface. That mirrors where the parent company is coming from. Orchid itself is an executive assistant that lives in iMessage, texting users their day, drafting replies, and it was founded in 2025 by Nizar Abi Zaher and Adam Wazzan out of Y Combinator with a small team based in San Francisco. The same founders previously built Zero, an open-source AI-native email client , so pushing agents into everyday inboxes and threads is familiar territory. Keiki matters right now because most agent tooling still assumes a chat widget on a website, while actual customer conversations have moved to Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, email, and Slack. By packaging deployment into a fast setup and multiplying agents by channel and audience, Orchid is betting that founders and small teams will adopt agents the same way they adopted Linear or Notion, one workflow at a time, rather than through a long enterprise rollout.

The demo cuts feel like a Michael Bay trailer for a chatbot. Respect the editor, but I still don't know what Keiki actually does in the first 15 seconds.

ok wait, 'channels people already use' is doing a lot of work in that sentence. WhatsApp? iMessage? Discord? Signal? Tell me which ones so I can stop guessing.

First-tap test: I clicked the landing CTA and got a Calendly. For an assistant that never sleeps, making me book a meeting during business hours is a choice.

Poked at the docs and the SDK looks clean, but I couldn't find rate limits or webhook retry behavior anywhere. If Keiki is 'always on' I need to know what happens when my endpoint is not.

Fastest way to launch is a great hook, but the interesting number is week 4 retention on the end customer side. Circle back when you have that chart.

An assistant that never sleeps sounds great until it starts DMing my customers at 3am with the tone of a Red Bull intern. Guardrails, please.

Sorry naive question, if the agent lives in the channels customers already use, who owns the conversation history, Orchid or the business? Asking because my PM lead will ask me tomorrow.
