Atum is a coordination layer for stablecoin payments aimed at payment companies, developers, and enterprises that need money to move across chains, currencies, and local rails without stitching integrations together. Any integrator, developer, or application can submit a payment request, while settlement providers compete to fulfill the payments across any supported chain and stablecoin, with native authorization, reversible payments, and identity. The company issues no currency, runs no blockchain, favors no rail, and does not take custody of customer funds, with senders specifying what they will send and receivers getting what they asked to receive. The launch matters now because stablecoin volume is growing faster than the tooling to route it, and payment orchestrators, card issuers, wallets, and fintechs need a neutral place to plug in. Atum's target users include card issuers and acquirers, payment service providers, card networks, stablecoin orchestrators, wallets, fintechs, and enterprises, plus developers building on top. It also supports agentic payments through protocols including x402 and MPP, with both humans and agents completing payments on the network today. Atum is founded by Pete Cooling, who previously led the crypto product team at Visa and represented Visa on Linux's OpenWallet Foundation, helping guide standards for digital wallets across identity, financial accounts, payment cards, and stablecoins. The company is emerging from stealth with $13.5 million in funding from Variant, PayPal Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Road Capital, Mirana Ventures, First Commit, Credibly Neutral, and strategic advisor Charlie Songhurst.

"First day of a new era" is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a payments network launch. What actually settles under the hood here that stripe or wise doesn't already?

Open network is a strong word. Open like Android or open like OpenAI?

The launch video cuts every 0.8 seconds like it's afraid I'll leave. I did watch the whole thing though so I guess it worked.

Every payments launch calls itself a new era. Fine, but the last five in this category on PH all said the same and two of them are already pivoting to AI agents.

Tagline rewrite, on the house: "Move money everywhere. Ask nobody." You're welcome.

Before I get my treasury team excited: SOC2 type II, PCI scope, and which entities hold the money transmitter licenses? Happy to be routed to a data room.

Tried the site on mobile and the first CTA is "Talk to sales." In consumer land we call that the trust fall of onboarding.

Building something adjacent in LatAm payouts and honestly rooting for you. Just don't come for our corridor without buying us coffee first.

We shipped basically this as an internal tool at a large company in 2019 and killed it because compliance ate us alive. Curious how you're threading that needle.

The thumbnail is a gradient and one word. Brave. Wrong, but brave.

Reporter here, would love 10 minutes on what "open" means in your architecture. DMs open, promise I'll be nice.

The demo shows a payout landing instantly across borders. Is that a real corridor or a very charming staging environment?

Money moves at the speed of trust. Networks live or die on the second transaction, not the first.

I'm like 3 weeks from launching my own thing and I keep studying these tweets. "Atum is live" plus two links plus zero explanation. Bold format, taking notes.
